About MATA: Our History

The Malaysian Association of Technical Analysts (MATA) was officially founded on 24 February 2014 by a group of seven passionate graduates of the MSTA (Member of the Society of Technical Analysts) program. United by their shared vision to elevate the standards of technical analysis in Malaysia, they established what is now recognized as a key player in the region’s financial education landscape.

A Milestone in Global Recognition - hosting the 2018, 31st International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA) Conference.

Just four years after its founding, the Malaysian Association of Technical Analysts (MATA) achieved a historic milestone by hosting the 31st International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA) Conference in 2018—marking the first time this global event was held in Malaysia. The conference was officially inaugurated by the then Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, further elevating the event’s prestige and national significance. Bringing together leading experts, market professionals, and financial educators from over 30 countries, the conference served as a monumental moment not only for MATA but also for Malaysia’s standing in the international technical analysis and financial markets community. This achievement reflected MATA’s rapid rise and credibility as a respected institution within the global financial ecosystem.

The IFTA 2018 Conference hosted by MATA received widespread acclaim for its exceptional organization, high-caliber speakers, and impactful sessions on market strategies, charting techniques, and financial technologies. It set a new benchmark for excellence in IFTA’s event history, solidifying MATA’s role as a pioneering force in technical analysis education and thought leadership. By successfully executing a world-class financial conference, MATA demonstrated its capability to lead global dialogue on market analysis, trading education, and investment strategies.
